Holly Humberstone Performs “Into Your Room” & Frank Ocean's “Ivy” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Into Your Room” and a cover of Frank Ocean's “Ivy”.
This marks the second time she has performed on the Live Lounge since May 2022.
Holly Humberstone told Mollie King of BBC Radio 1, “I'm so excited. It's kind of a mixture of really, really excited and just so gas that I get to finally do a radio one live lounge, but also it's sort of mixed with sheer terror, because it's live and I really want to do a good job.”
“Into Your Room” is featured on her debut album “Paint My Bedroom Black”, which was released on October 13 2023.
Holly Humberstone said of the song in Apple Music, “I didn’t realize until I finished the record, but rooms come up in nearly every song. This time we were in LA and Rob flew over again and we went in with Ethan Gruska [boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, Ryan Beatty]. A theme of this album is feeling like I was neglecting people at home and not being there for the people I wanted to be there for—and I wanted to turn those things into something that felt positive. It’s a love song about wanting to be close to someone. We were trying to get across an embrace of somebody after not having seen them for such a long time-[I was] proclaiming my love for people back home. The production is really upbeat and sparkly and shiny.”
“Ivy” was released by American R&B singer-songwriter Frank Ocea from his 2016 album “Blonde”. But he first performed the song in Munich, in June 2013.
Holly Humberstone said of the cover, “My clue is that it's going to be one of my favorite artists. I feel like I've mentioned them before in a few interviews, and I've been waiting for my chance to finally cover one of his songs. The song is still quite current. I feel like loads people still listen to the song even though it actually came out like maybe 10 years ago.”
