Carver Commodore Releases New Song “Never Satisfied”
Florence-based alt-rock band Carver Commodore, consisting of Payton Pruitt (vocals), Phillip Blevins (guitar), Noah Freeman (drums), David Smith Jr. (bass) and Clayton Christopher (multi-instrumentalist), released a new song “Never Satisfied” on May 16, 2023.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming second EP “If Nothing Happens”, which is set to be released on August 15, 2023.
The track is accompanied by the Daniel Cunningham-directed music video.
The band frontman Payton Pruitt said of the song, “This song is about how selfish and bitter we can become when we aren't able to find satisfaction in anything. It's one of the most honest songs we've ever put out and I wrote it at a time where I was feeling very discontent - not only in the things we weren't getting as a band, but even in the goals and milestones we were reaching. I was also having a hard time being happy for the good things that would happen to the people I love. When you spend so much time comparing a moment of your life to that moment in someone else's life, it's never gonna match up and you rob yourself of the joy that comes from celebrating wins in your life and the lives of those around you. It's a pretty bleak place to live in for a whole song so I thought it would be fun to counter that bleakness with a fun, poppy, turn-of-the-millennium style sound. You might be surprised that it doesn't have a wholesome/positive twist at the end...but that comes later.”
- The band added, “Unsatisfied (obviously), but more specifically, we as a band were feeling like we had been 'grinding' and doing all the 'right things' for a few years but were watching everyone around us become successful seemingly overnight. And due to comparison, we were robbing ourselves of the potential joy that would come from the successes we did receive. So the song is about comparison on a personal and band level.”
