Canadian singer-songwriter Casey Møøn announced his upcoming EP “ashes” would be released on February 16, 2023.
The EP is the final installment in a trilogy of EPs, following “fountains” and “mirrors”.
From the EP, he unveiled a new song “halflight” on January 12, 2023.
The track was written by Casey Moon, Sacha Katz, Sacha Katz, Zookids and Bodi.
“I used to have these moments a lot when going out where I would be having fun with my friends one moment and the next I would be totally out of my body,” Casey Moon said of the song. “My new single, 'halflight,' is about disassociating from a once familiar place. It's a really eerie, uncanny sort of feeling.”
He continued, “I wanted this song to feel like you're flying, only to look around and realize you've actually been falling the whole time.”- He said of the EP, “'Fountains turn to mirrors turn to ashes, and nothing can stop it from happening.' Across my three EPs, there are a bunch of lyrics that repeat. I like the idea that the same sentiment in a different context can mean something totally different.”
He added, “This is the last repeated lyric; it ends the mirrors EP and comes up a lot on ashes which drops February 16th. Time and inevitability are big themes for me and I feel like this line means something so different everywhere it comes up.” - source : Apple Music
