Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ standards Releases New Song “Smile”
Los Angeles-based two-piece math rock band standards, consisting of Marcos Mena (guitar) and Forrest Rice (drums), has released a new song “Smile” along with a music video.
The song is the first single off of their upcoming sophomore album “Fruit Town”.
It was written by Marcos Mena and Forrest Rice. The accompanying video was directed by Cole McCarthy.
Marcos Mena said of the song, “"Smile" is an energetic, pop-inspired single full of tasteful guitars and flashy drums. Displaying melodic guitar chops and flashy drums in the center of a circular track, the video radiates the energy of a live show with the minimalistic aesthetic that standards has become known for.”
The new album comprises 11-track and is set to be released on July 22, 2022. It is their first album in two years since the 2020 debut album “Fruit Island”.
The duo embarks their headline tour with Glacier Veins in support of the album in The US. The tour kicks off at Soda Bar in San Diego on July 21, 2022 and will conclude at El Cid in Los Angeles on August 24, 2022.
