Mothica Premieres New Song “SENSITIVE” on BBC Radio 1
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Mothica premiered a new song “SENSITIVE” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
The song will appear on her upcoming album “NOCTURNAL”, which is expected to be released in June 2022.
It was written by McKenzie Ellis, Maize Olinger and Austin Woodward. Produced by Raziel.
Mothica told Jack Saunders about the song, “I wanted to basically make the most like aggressive song about being an introvert. I just heard a lot of songs about like being really I don't know, empowered and I kind of felt like I don't want to go outside and I wanted a song that was like equally aggressive and like danceable but is about like, kind of my fears.”
She continued, “I kind of realized that I think everyone kind of has two sides, but that I can be really defensive and actually do kind of have some anger issues, but this stems from like feeling misunderstood or feeling kind of scared. And it was just kind of me exploring that like, in therapy, honestly, of like, why am I so quick to lash out? It's like, because I'm actually really sensitive and I really care what people think. And so I wanted to combine those two for this.”- pE4PLs7cnb0

She added, “I wanted to combine kind of music I grew up on which like, I was in the metal core and hardcore scene going to shows and then I kind of ended up doing electronic and pop music, and over the last year, I let myself explore those like harder guitar tones. So I want to kind of combine like, what that would sound like with a pop lens to it.”
She said of the album, “I mean everyone listened to so many genres. And I think what's cool about 2022 that people can explore so many different sounds. And I think it's all about like the energy of the song is what like makes EDM drop or you know, there's one part in the album, but I say it's like dubstep. And maybe it'll come back. I don't know. But it's just super fun to try to get that energy and combine like kind of different genres and make it be its own thing. It's called 'NOCTURNAL'. I don't have an exact date, but I'll say around June.”
