Ibeyi Premieres New Song “Sister 2 Sister” on BBC Radio 1
Afro-French Cuban musical duo Ibeyi, consisting of twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz, premiered a new song “Sister 2 Sister” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song will appear on their upcoming their studio album “Spell 31”, which is set to be released on May 6, 2022.
The track samples their own 2014 single “River”. It was written by Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Eg White. The accompanying music video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo.
The duo told Clara Amfo about the song, “This song is so important to us. It means the world because it's the first song we ever wrote, but our sisterhood and our twinhood. The ups and downs of our relationship, but mainly about the love that we share, and we wanted to celebrate it and you know, we all have a special sister. It doesn't matter if we share blood. We all have this special person in our life that we want to celebrate. So this is a song about that love. And this is so funny, also to us, because we are sampling our own work and you know how they say when you sample yourself or reference or quote yourself you made it. So it feels like we've made it.
