Disclosure & Zedd Team Up for new Song “You've Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free”
- British electronic music duo Disclosure and Russian-German DJ Zedd teamed up to release a new song “You've Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free”.
This marks the first time Disclosure and Zedd have worked together.
For Zedd, the song is his first collaboration in two years since the 2020 “Inside Out” with Griff.
They recorded the song in the UK last October after releasing Disclosure's EP “Never Enough”.
It was written and produced by Guy Lawrence, Howard Lawrence and Anton Zaslavski.
Disclosure said, “We all kind of chimed in as to how it should flow, how the structure of this song should rise and fall based off of Anton's baseline, and built the harmonies on top of that. It pretty much came together in a day as all of our favorite ones seem to do so.”
“It felt like we were in a band, jamming out and playing off each other's ideas leading us to a place we wouldn't have reached on our own,” Zedd said of the song. “Lyrically this song is my coping mechanism for dealing with anxiety. Sometimes you need to remember where you are instead of holding onto where you want to be. Whether you're socially anxious, too drunk, or even loving life- I hope that you dance to this song and remember that you're free!”
Disclosure embarks on “You've Got To Let Go If You Want To Be Free” tour in the US along with DJ Boring. The tour kicks off at WaMu Theater in Seattle on April 9, 2022.
