Lil Nas X Covers Dolly Parton's “Jolene” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
American rapper Lil Nas X appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Jolene”, That's What I Want”, “Dead Right Now” and “Call Me By Your”.
“Jolene” was released by American country music singer-songwriter Dolly Parton in 1973.
Lil Nas X covered the song for the first time. He said, “I chose this because I feel like this song is kind of beautifully sad. I like the little country twang, so I was like 'let me try this out'.”
In the past, Lil Nas X offered Dolly Parton to collaborate for “Old Town Road” remix.
But Dolly Parton didn't participate and was contemplating a future collaboration with him. “I had an opportunity to be part of that [song],” Dolly Parton said. “But it had done so well with so many people. I thought, 'Well, I'll wait and do something later on. No point in going down that same Old Town Road. We got other roads to travel.'”
That's What I Want”, “Dead Right Now” and “Call Me By Your” are included his debut album “Montero”.
After the performance, he said, “It feels great but I take everything with a grain of salt. Still, I'm just thankful these people see me as an inspiration but I try not to live my life by that.”- RWjnC8HSRdU
