Charlie Puth Performs “Mother” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Mother”.
The song was released back in September, co-written by Charlie Puth, Andrew Watt, Louis Bell, Ryan Tedder and Billy Walsh.
In October, he first performed the song on TV at The Ellen Show.
Charlie Puth said of the song, “Every time i write a song, because it’s about very specific instances in my life, I tend to get linked to whoever it’s written about. And I just wanted to, in my mind, calm it down and not have it be about that… Several years ago, I was in a kind of “bummy” relationship, and it kind of changed my personality. From an outside point of view, maybe the mother’s point of view, everything was pristine and perfect. But really, what was happening was tumultuous and [secretly crumbling from the inside]… I was hanging out with different people, I’d abandoned all my friends. It really changed me for a while. The reason why I didn’t want to bring this up originally, at the very beginning stages of promoting the song, was because i just wanted people to have fun, relate to it in their own way. But, as happy as the song is, as bright as the song is, it’s actually about a very interesting time in my life… I feel so much better just saying the true sentiment behind it.”- IT6vmMKCvlc
