Adam Lambert Releases New EP “VELVET: Side A”: Streaming
American singer-songwriter Adam Lambert released his fourth EP “Velvet: Side A” on September 27th. The 6-track EP serves as the first half of his similarly titled album.
Adam Lambert told Billboard in an interview, “They'll be part of the album as a whole. I’m putting out Side A [now], Side B will come out early next year, and shortly thereafter it’ll all be on one album.”
He has been writing with Bonnie McKee, Ilsey Juber, Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter for the project.
He said of the album, “I’ve followed my instincts and intuition more than ever with Velvet, leaning into truly musical influences from the 70s, early 80s and contemporary pop. It honors what made me want to be a musician in the first place.”- He explained what inspired the name Velvet, “Velvet’s a pretty popular fabric. It made me think vintage, fashion, the '70s. It’s what a curtain is made out of on a stage. My favorite movie is Velvet Goldmine. There’s also this book called The Velvet Rage [Overcoming the Pain of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man's World] that’s a really important book about the gay experience, sort of why we are the way we are -- I read that at an early age, and it informed me a lot about how gay men are. This album is for everybody, of course, but as a gay man, the personal elements of it, that’s my experience.”
