Former Pentatonix and singer-songwriter Avi Kaplan released his second solo EP “I'll Get By” back in February. It is his first EP in three years.
From the EP, a new music video for “It Knows Me” was released on July 9th. Directed and animated by Mertcan Mertbilek.
Avi Kaplan said of the song, “It Knows Me” was one of my favorite songs to record and produce with Mike [Mogis]. I wanted this song to carry the weight of the lyrics but still contain hopefulness. The weight is carried by the huge tribal drums and the heavily stacked almost hymnal like vocal harmonies. The hopefulness is embodied in the verbed out whistles along with the guitar and mandolin.”
“The video is a fantastical representation of what might go on in one’s mind when they are dealing with those kinds of emotions,” he continues. “It was such a beautiful experience to collaborate with [director Mertcan Mertbilek] and see him bring the concept to fruition. It has always been a dream of mine to have an animated video and he truly went above and beyond what I imagined it could be.”- source : Idolator
