Annie Announces New Album “Dark Hearts”, Premieres New Song “American Cars”
- Norwegian singer-songwriter and DJ, Annie announced her third album “Dark Hearts” will be released on October 16, 2020. The album is her first LP in 11 years.
From the album, she premiered the first single “American Cars” on June 19th.
The track is inspired by the 1996 film “Crash” directed by David Cronenberg. Annie said of the song, “It was partly inspired by the David Cronenberg film Crash. It was 2PM and the only other people in the cinema were two old men, a mum and her screaming baby, and 16-year-old me. It was quite a strange experience. The film is about pushing it to the edge. When you’re looking for something dark you don’t necessarily know why you’re doing it. But you’re pushing the boundaries. You can fall, or almost fall, but you climb back.”
The album contains 15-track. She recorded the album for three years. “I did a lot of recording while I was pregnant, puking while I was singing,” she recalls. “[Producer Stefan Storm] had to go out to buy me licorice, but I still managed to do some quite good vocals. The best album I’ve done so far. All the tracks fit so perfectly together.”
