Machine Gun Kelly & Travis Barker Cover Paramore's “Misery Business”
- American rapper Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker of Blink-182 have a cover of Paramore‘s “Misery Business”.
The video was released as part of MGK’s #LockDownSessions, a series of cover songs recorded while the world is in self-isolation due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Machine Gun Kelly has covered other songs as part of the series include Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, The Beatles “Here Comes the Sun” and KiD CuDi‘s “Pursuit of Happiness”.
“Misery Business” was released by Paramore from their second album “Riot!” in 2007.
The band has not performed the song on their live performances due to a line from the second verse that was deemed sexist and anti-feminist.
Earlier this month, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams reiterated her contemporary stance against the song.
On International Women's Day (March 8), Spotify builded a playlist called "Women of Rock" including the song.
"I know it's one of the band's biggest songs," she said, "but it shouldn't be used to promote anything having to do with female empowerment or solidarity."
