Tyla Premieres New Song “Tears” on Coke Studio
South African singer-songwriter Tyla collaborated with Coke Studio to premiere a new song “Tears” on November 20, 2024.
The song is the first music since her self-title debut album, which was released back in March.
The track was written by Divine Lightbody, Livvi Franc, Matthew Burnett, Michael Pollack, Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Theron Thomas, Tor Erik Hermansen, and Tyla Seethal. Produced by Stargate.
She will first perform the song in her hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 4, 2024.
Tyla said of the song, “My music is all about creating connections, sharing culture and influences from all over the world, and I know fans will feel that in 'Tears'. I can't wait to see everyone, including my fans, friends and family, in Johannesburg and share this unforgettable experience together.”

'Tears' is Tyla's intimate and inspiring track in partnership with Coke Studio and was released to bring fans together.”- Tyla tola NYLON about the song, “Honestly, it just happened. I was in the studio and we were working on a completely different song, and I was not feeling it, so I wanted to move on. We ended up moving on; [songwriter Michael Pollack] started playing the guitar, it started building from there and became what it was. We didn't think of anything specific; it felt like it flowed out of us. I've had it for a long [time] and it didn't fit in my album, so I'm happy this opportunity came with Coke [Studio].”
