Alessi Rose Premieres New Song “Oh My” on BBC Radio 1
London-based indie singer-songwriter Alessi Rose premiered a new song “Oh My” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
The song is her first music since the debut EP “rumination as ritual”, which was released back in July.
She wrote the song with producer Tommy Baxter.
Alessi Rose said of the song, “Me and Tommy Baxter wrote this song near the start of this year and quickly became obsessed with it so it's been very lovely to see it resonate. It was initially meant to be a love song, I'd written it as such, but through the process of writing this song I realised that it's not really a love song at all, it's about feeling insecure, it's about doubt, it's about being willing to change parts of yourself so that one person will like you as much as you like them (horrific). I finished the song and realised that the minute you start feeling like you can't win you gotta go.”- Alessi Rose told Sian Eleri about the song, “OI'm really happy with this one. It's kind of like marking the start of this, like, new era, I guess, to me, and I'm just really happy that it feels like the right steps have been made.”
She continued, “It's a bit of everything really, because I kind of started off before getting into all of this like, really since being an artist and everything, I was literally just to go like songs in my bedroom. To like, instead of like, keeping a journal. I guess that was how I got everything down. So it's been that kind of like keeping tabs of what's going on in my life. With this song, I kind of like started, I had the verse written in my notes app on my phone before I went into the studio. And it was meant to be this kind of like love song thing. And let's just say whatever was meant to happen in that kind of situation did not go as planned. And then when I finished the song and wrote the bridge and everything, I was at a totally different place to where I kind of started it. The whole song, the whole chorus is basically me being like, Okay, love me back. Please Just do it right now. But also, if you don't, that's really embarrassing for me, just like the whole vibe of the song.” - source : BBC Radio 1
