New York-based German-American singer-songwriter Sarah Bernstein has released a new song “Loser of the Year” along with a lyric video.
The song was written when Sarah Bernstein was 17, after over 10 years, she recorded the song with producer Shane Adams at Coop DeVille Studio in Nashville.
“As a songwriter, the song is meaningful to me in a whole different way. I haven’t shared this yet, but it’s actually adapted from a song I wrote at 17,” Sarah Bernstein said of the song. “I came across it in the archives of an old laptop last summer and shared it with my boyfriend Allan. Shockingly, it didn’t make either of us cringe. Instead there was actually something really special about it that I noticed my songs didn’t have anymore. I’m happy to have that back.”
Her next release “A Woman Like Me” is currently in production and scheduled to be released in spring 2024.- Sarah Bernstein shared on social media, “Of all the songs I’ve written, this one hits different. The process of writing, performing, and recording it set-free a piece of my soul I didn’t realize was stuck. Now that it’s no longer an .mp3 on my phone, I truly hope—in some way— it can do the same for you :) Of course.... I’d be absolutely nowhere if it weren’t for the amazing musicians in Nashville who made it happen. Bringing these songs to life takes a village. Unlike some of my originals that evolved in the studio, I knew exactly how I wanted the track to sound— like something off the Freaky Friday soundtrack or if Fall Out Boy were female. Needless to say, they understood the assignment.”
