  • Twenty One Pilots Announces New Album “Clancy”, Premieres New Song “Overcompensate” on BBC Radio 1

  • American alt-rock duo Twenty One Pilots, consisting of Tyler Joseph (vocals/keyboards) and Josh Dun (drums), has announced that their seventh studio album “Clancy” will be released on May 17, 2024 via Fueled by Ramen.

It is their first album in three years since the 2021 album “Scaled and Icy”.
The album is the final chapter in the long-running story that began on the 2015 album "Blurryface".
Tyler Joseph said of the album, “'Clancy' is it's kind of our protagonist in the story that we've been telling him we've kind of been stretching the story out over the course of the last several records, actually. Clancy is the type of character who for a long time, didn't know if he was a leader or not, didn't really want to take responsibility for it.“
The album comprises a 13-track, produced by Tyler Joseph and Paul Meany.
From the album, the band premiered the first single called “Overcompensate” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The track was written and produced by Paul Meany and Tyler Joseph.
  • Tyler Joseph told Clara Amfo about the song, “There's a lyric in the chorus that talks about a dangerous bend symbol, and it's a certain sign it's like a zigzag sign that basically says 'hey, up ahead,' slow down and there's a there's a sharp term. And I just remember thinking it's kind of cheesy, I guess, but a bit of an analogy in certain seasons of my life where I would just completely ignore those sorts of signs. And just go full speed ahead and kind of learn the hard way in some ways. So, a bit of that 'Overcompensate' is over correcting your steering when trying to get back on course. And it's interesting, I think in the UK, you're dangerous bend symbol slightly different than over here at the states, but just so you guys know, I was thinking of the one in the UK when I wrote it. And so not here and it wasn't until afterwards I was driving in my hometown and realized that that's way different than ones that was big in yellow, and the other one's kind of like a triangle. It's way cooler looking. So I think you guys have cooler signs over there.”
