  • Päter Announces Debut Album “4-7 Company”, Shares New Song “Catching Cold”

  • Toronto-based indie pop rock singer-songwriter Päter has announced their debut album “4-7 Company” will be released on April 4, 2024.

From the album, Päter unveiled a new song “Catching Cold” on February 20, 2024.
The track was written by Parmida Kakavand. Produced by Howard Redekopp and Päter.
The song chases elusive memories. During the writing process when the song's pieces finally fell into place, Päter knew it was about their childhood immigration from Iran which left them with the feeling that something intangible was missing.
Päter said of the song, “'Catching Cold' is about the feeling of a memory you can't quite place. I was born on an island off the coast of Iran - Qeshm - and my family and immigrated to Canada when I was 7. Iranian culture is a lot more open than North American culture, especially Canadian, so it was a tough adjustment learning to contain myself to a degree to get along. Now as an adult all my memories of that past life in Iran are blurry images of a warm, beautiful place. There's an aching for the comfort of that time in this song.”
  • Päter shared on social media, “I was born on an island off the coast of Iran - Qeshm - and immigrated to Canada when I was 7. I remember feeling so isolated and misunderstood (didn't speak english), and I wanted to go back. But we stayed, and I made it my personal mission to become as Canadian as possible. I became so wrapped up in that that years later, when I started to feel like there was a part of me missing, I couldn't quite place what that was. Just a faint, beating memory of a warm, safe place.”
They continued, Releasing this song today, my thoughts are with the brutal number of people are actively being displaced, for reasons completely out of their control. I think of the roots they are ripped from and the reverberations of trauma that will continue for generations to come. There's so much to mourn to for.”
They added, My hope is that this song helps you conjure a warm, safe place through the chaos. We're lucky to be able to take this space. Take it when you're able, and keep your heart well.”

  • The self-directed video for 4-7 Company's lead single “Nicotine Hallelujah” was an official selection at the 2023 Austin Under the Stars Film Festival as well as the 2024 Toronto Short Film Festival.
