  • Mergui Returns With New Song “Cry”

  • Los Angeles-based Israeli singer-songwriter Mergui returned with a new song called “Cry” on February 15, 2024.

The song is his first music in two years since the 2022 EP “Dark Side of the Rainbow”.
The song features an interpolation of British singer-songwriter Elton John's “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”.
The track was written by Jonathan Mergui, Dor Daniel, Brandyn Burnette, Bernard J.P. Taupin, and Elton John. Produced by produced by Mergui, Jonathan Linav, Dor Daniel, Itay Haruvi, and Haim Saban.
Mergui said of the song, “There have been many times in my life when people have put up walls in our relationships, preventing them from receiving real love from me. Being that safe space for somebody is the biggest gift. 'Cry' is a reflection of these experiences — the journey of breaking down walls and embracing vulnerability. This song is more than just music; it's an invitation. I hope 'Cry' will resonate with you, reminding you of the power of authenticity and connection.”
  • Mergui shared on social media, “Lately, I've been reflecting on my childhood and how I grew up. Thanks to my parents, who created a safe environment for us, I could be whoever I wanted to be, no matter what that looked like. From playing soccer to dancing ballet, these experiences gave me the confidence to pursue my passions without fear of judgment. Later on, I realized how much these moments shaped me into who I am today and I couldn't be more grateful for it.”

  • He continued, “Since then, I have always found myself seeking genuine connections and learned that they only come from vulnerability. This is something I always try to keep in my relationships. There have been many times in my life when people have put up walls in our relationships, preventing them from receiving real love from me. Being that safe space for somebody is the biggest gift.”
He added, “'Cry' is a reflection of these experiences—the journey of breaking down walls and embracing vulnerability. This song is more than just music; it's an invitation. I hope 'Cry' will resonate with you, reminding you of the power of authenticity and connection.”
