Allie X Announces New Album “Girl With No Face”, Shares Title Track
Canadian singer-songwriter Allie X has announced that her third studio album “Girl With No Face” will be released on February 23, 2024.
It is her first body of work in four years since the 2020 album “Cape God”.
The album comprises 11-track, produced by Allie X.
Allie X said of the album, “I am thrilled to announce my new record 'Girl With No Face'. This is the first self-produced album I've done, and at times, it felt like I wasn't going to make it out alive, let alone send out a press release about it.”
She continued, “It's very hard to sum up a body of work you've spent thousands of hours on, but here's an attempt. There is a death in this music, as well as the beginning of a rebirth. I needed to make something that came completely from me. If only once, and if only to prove to myself that I could do it. I would describe these songs as angry, stubborn, honest, dry, melodramatic, fast, and indulgent… the same way some people describe me ha. I hope everyone likes it but if not, try turning it up a bit.”- Allie X tapped into themes of identity in the album artwork.
She explained, “I feel like there was a sort of death that happened, like an erasure of maybe previous identities, and rather than emerging with a fully-formed new identity, I feel like I'm still in progress. I'm figuring it out. I like the idea that masks are flexible in that way. They're a protection.”
She added, “I'm starting to think that maybe that's the way that I want to go through life.”
From the album, Allie X released the title track “Girl With No Face” on November 16, 2023.
The track was written by Alexandra Hughes and George Pimentel. Produced by Allie X.
She completed the song as last song of the album. “I was actually thinking about the music industry and the amount of artists that get screwed over and killed, basically, by the way things are,” Allie X said of the song. “I was the ghost of the graveyard of these dead artists and I was going to avenge them or something.” -
