Billie Marten Releases New Song “Nothing But Mine”
Last month, British singer-songwriter Billie Marten announced her upcoming fourth studio album “Drop Cherries” with the first single “This Is How We Move”.
The new album is set to be released on April 7, 2023. It is her first album in two years since the 2021 album “Flora Fauna”.
Billie Marten said of the album, “When I’m trying to write, the creative door is closed most of the time. When it briefly opens, I know I’ve stumbled across moments of true emotion and insight; they give no warning and are often unpredictable. I can’t force the process, something I’m realising more with each album. And that’s why Drop Cherries is a collection of songs expressing genuine and intuitive feeling.”
From the album, she released the second single called “Nothing But Mine” on February 6, 2023.
The track was written by Billie Marten and produced by Dom Monks.
Billie Marten said of the song, “This was one we did right after dinner, everyone was loose, I started playing the song on the honky tonk in the corner. No one knew the song, this was I think the first / second take, it’s all about fluidity and losing yourself in the throes of sub consciousness. The line ‘wash my mouth, empty out all the dirt that you found’ was in reference to the dirt I carried from the previous album (cover), eradicating the judgement and darkness.
