Toronto-based alt-pop Filipina singer-songwriter DIVNE released her debut song “Mind in the Sky” on June 17, 2022.
The track was written by Diane Cortez, Romano Erafficci, Romano Erafficci and Tasha Kopoon. Produced by SLWJMZ.
She wrote this song dedicated to a fan who gave her the idea. The song is about feeling nostalgic within nature and remembering things differently when you were a kid.
“'Mind in the Sky' is a pop and contemporary r&b summer song,” DIVNE said of the song. “I wrote this song for a fan who gave me the idea to write about nostalgia within nature and imagining things differently as a kid. For example, as a kid you'd see the red sky as if it was angry or on fire. Upon hearing this, I was intrigued by the idea. I began writing and it only took an hour or so to write.”
She continued, “'Mind in the Sky' touches on that feeling of longing for a time in the past and reminiscing the times when your mind was more imaginative. I would imagine the endless hours I spent at my childhood park, staring at the sky. I started with an ethereal chord progression on my guitar, wrote some lyrics, brought it to my producer, and the rest was history.”
She has already filmed a music video for the song, which will be premiered on July 1, 2022.
