Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Matoma & JP Cooper Team Up for New Song “Midnight Sun”
Norwegian DJ Matoma and British singer-songwriter JP Cooper teamed up to release a new song “Midnight Sun” on May 25, 2022.
This marks the first collaboration between Matoma and JP Cooper.
The song follows up “Heart So Big” with A R I Z O N A, which was released back in April.
It was written by Matoma and JP Cooper. Produced by Matoma.
Matoma shared on social media, “For almost a decade now I've wanted to work with JP because of his musicality and artistry, he is just one of a kind. So last fall he and I had a really inspirational session on Zoom due to lockdown. I was at my cabin and even though I hadn't met JP in person, his energy was so strong and beautiful and I really got the sense of how musical, poetic, soulful, and passionate he is for music. During that session we became soul brothers for life. When I met him a couple month later to shoot the music video, I just knew that we will be in each other's life's forever.”- JP Cooper said, “I feel like I've known Tom for years, although we've only met once and 'Midnight Sun' was written over a Zoom session. The song is a celebration of the people who bring light in your darkest moments. I suggested the idea of Midnight Sun as a nod to the very light nights in Norway during the summer, turns out Tom's first ever tour was called the midnight sun tour so I guess it was meant to be. I have a feeling this is a creative relationship that will last much longer than just the one song.”
