Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Alexa Villa released her sophomore album “Good Girl” on March 18, 2022 along with a new single “Not Your Fool”.
It is her first album in five years since the 2017 debut album “Act I”.
The new album comprises 9-track. Alexa Villa shared on social media, “I cannot tell you how much this means to me you guys. I poured my heart into writing and producing these songs and each one is a specific moment in my life. Thank you a million times for being here and for supporting me 💗”
The new song “Not Your Fool” was written by Alexa Villa. She said of the song, “Not Your Fool is about reclaiming your power after a break up. It's about looking back at all the red flags, realizing that I missed them, and choosing to grow from the pain rather than letting the break up break me. I wrote this song months after my very toxic long term relationship ended, once the fog cleared and I was able to see that I should have left sooner."- _Em5-uk552Y
About the album title track, she said, “I wrote 'Good Girl' about all the times I felt I was not taken seriously as a woman in my industry and in my relationships. I wrote it about all the times I've felt confused about my place in the world and the times I felt like I needed to hide. I wrote this song to redefine what a 'Good Girl' is. I've caught myself and I've seen so many of my friends, strong and beautiful women, altering themselves to fit inside the box that was created for us. Why do we have to wear pink, have the perfect body, or be quiet and look pretty to be feminine? And if we do live outside the box why do we as women then become stereotypes? I wrote this song at a time when I was frustrated and angry about the rules. Rules that were so clearly made to be broken. I don't have to be anything but myself to be a woman. I wake up everyday and get to decide who I want to be. That's what this song is about.”-
