Richmond-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Sam McCoig released a new song “Never Meant To” on March 13th.
He plans to release at least three singles this year, the track is the second single of 2020 following “Waiting on You”, which was released back in January.
Sam McCoig debuted with EP “The Opener” in 2018. Since then, he has released “Waking up with You”, the EP “Self -Titled” and “Waiting on You”. His music is '70s sound vibe.
Before the release of the new song, he shared on social media. “Things that musicians won't tell you is the amount of work that goes into being able to create a song. They won't tell you the insane amount of hours they work in a restaurant/bar/other job to be able to afford studio time. They won't tell you how emotionally difficult it is to stand on a stage, and play their song like they are reading their diary to a room full of people they don't know. And although they sometimes say thank you for the support, they won't tell you that it brings literal tears to their eyes when people help them share their song and just listen in general. I say thank you to you all from time to time, but you have to know that it means something special very deep down that so many of you on here have supported my music over the years. These songs are for me, but they're also for you. I can promise you that I am working hard at this and your messages / comments / texts / etc. make it possible.
