Celeste Releases New Song “Stop This Flame”
- BBC Music’s Sound Of 2020 winner and British-Jamaican singer-songwriter Celeste has released a new song “Stop This Flame”.
Previous winners of BBC Music include Sigrid, Years & Years, Sam Smith, HAIM, Michael Kiwanuka, Ellie Goulding, Adele, and 50 Cent.
“2019 was an incredible year for me and I could never have predicted half of the things that happened,” Celeste says in a statement. “Some of my favourite memories have been the live shows. From performing ‘Strange’ for the very first time at the Lexington for BBC Introducing, going live with Annie Mac from Maida Vale, to Jools Holland. I’m so grateful for every opportunity I’ve had so far and am looking forward to what 2020 will bring.”
The song follows up "Strange", which was last September. The track is reminiscent of Adele's “Rolling in the Deep”.
“In essence, ‘Stop This Flame’ is a song about seeing it through to the end,” Celeste explains. “Whether it’s about not letting go of love, not letting go of a dream or stridently coming through some form of adversity. The song has always evoked those feelings within me.”
She will embark on her first headlining tour in April 2020 and is expected to release her debut studio album.
