British singer-songwriter Charli XCX teamed up with American rapper Lizzo to release a new song “Blame It On Your Love”.
The track is Charli XCX’s first new release this year. It was written by Mikkel Stoleer Eriksen, EASYFUN, Lizzo, Tor Erik Hermansen, Sasha Sloan, Noonie Bao and Charli XCX.
Originally, the song was recorded by Charli XCX with production duo Stargate in the sessions for her yet-unreleased third record.
Later, the track was re-worked by producers A. G. Cook, Life Sim, and Lil Data, and was released as “Track 10” on her 2017 mixtape "Pop 2".
Finally, she released the song as “Blame It On Your Love” on May 15th.
Charli XCX started teasing the Lizzo collab earlier this week, ” IMAGINE IF I MADE A SONG WITH @LIZZO AKA THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING – WOULD U DIE??? I WOULD DIEEEEEEEE!!! PREP MY GRAVE ASAP WE GOT A BOP COMING THIS WEEK.”
