Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Marshmello x Lil Peep Premiere New Music Video for “Spotlight”
Back in January, American EDM producer Marshmello released “Spotlight” featuring American rapper Lil Peep. On February 12, he premiered a music video for it, directed by Nick Koenig, starring ItsLulo.
Originally, Marshmello and Lil Peep had worked on the song together last year, but Lil Peep died November 15, 2017 at age 21. Marshmello didn't plan on releasing until Lil Peep's mother reached out and encouraged him to do so. The track was written by Lil Peep and Marshmello.
About the video, Lil Peep's friend and director Nick Koenig said;
"Relationships have a way of overwhelming the meaning and context of physical items to the point of hijacking them. What once was just a household item might now be something that reminds us of that relationship to a point where it overpowers what that item was traditionally meant for. These objects end up developing a shared significance between those in the relationship. Like Peep’s passing, no one got to say goodbye properly. But the objects he left us (his body of work both musical and social) remain ours to share in our relationship with him."- source : SPIN
