Billie Eilish Performs at NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Billie Eilish appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert to perform “THE GREATEST”, “L'AMOUR DE MA VIE”, “i love you”, and “BIRDS OF A FEATHER”.
This marks the second time Billie Eilish has performed on Tiny Desk Concert since 2020.
But in 2020, she performed online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Billie Eilish said, “This is nerve-wracking for me, Tiny Desk, this is so cool I've wanted to do this like whole life, so I'm a little shaky I'm really excited to be here and you're all so beautiful. So thanks for watching and having me. I've been on tour now for like a week and a half or two weeks or something and I haven't seen much sunlight and I've been not sleeping very much and I haven't woken up past 1 p.m. except for today for this where I woke up at 9:30.”
Three songs, “THE GREATEST”, “L'AMOUR DE MA VIE”, and “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” are featured on her third studio album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT”, which was released back in May.
The new album was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
The ceremony will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast on CBS.- “i love you” is from her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, which was released in 2019.
Before the performance, Billie Eilish said of the song, “We're going to do an old one now, which is from our debut album when we all fall asleep where do we go which is one of our favorites, this is my brother by the way. And we write everything together and we always have since the beginning and this is like one of our favorite songs that we've written and it was like, when I was 16 and you were like 21. And it's the first time I fell in love and it was very scary and it's funny how that fear never goes away, the fear of falling or whatever, so anyway the song is called 'i love you'.” -
Billie Eilish said of three songs.
“THE GREATEST”: “To us, this is the heart of the album. It completes the whole thing. Making it was sort of a turning point. Everything went pretty well after that. It kind of woke us back up.”
“BIRDS OF A FEATHER”: “This song has that ending where I just keep going—it's the highest I've ever belted in my life. I was alone in the dark, thinking, 'You know what? I'm going to try something.' And I literally just kept going higher and higher. This is a girl who could not belt until I was literally 18. I couldn't physically do it. So I'm so proud of that. I remember coming home and being like, 'Mom! Listen!'”
“L'AMOUR DE MA VIE”: “The end of L'AMOUR is this little breakdown track called “Over now” and that was a big one, that was like, me and FINNEAS just like, messing around the kind of thing, we were like, 'No one's ever gonna hear this'.” - source : NPR
