  • Charlotte Lawrence Releases New Song “I Don't Wanna Dance”

  • Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence released the first single of 2024 called “I Don't Wanna Dance” on March 1, 2024.

The song is the follow-up to the 2023 singles “Bodybag” and “Boys Like You”.
Also, three songs will appear on her upcoming debut album.
This song depicts feelings of internal conflict and discomfort, and delves into themes of self-awareness, vulnerability, and the struggle to maintain authenticity in relationships.
Charlotte Lawrence co-wrote the song with Swedish singer-songwriter SHY Martin, and other songwriters and producers, Simon Says, Benjamin Gibbard, and Andy D. Park.
Charlotte Lawrence shared, “This song is dedicated to all the people I don't fuck anymore. I made it with the epic Simon Says, SHY Martin, Benjamin Gibbard, Andy D. Park.”
  • The accompanying music video was directed by Charlotte D'Alessio.
Charlotte Lawrence said of the video, “Written and directed and edited by my genius of a best friend Charlotte D'Alessio. This video came from a sleepover in New York where charlotte listened to the song twice at 2am and then immediately spoke the entire video start to finish and I can't believe it came to life. It's my favorite video ever and I want to watch it a million times. I'm completely obsessed, I'm so grateful, I'm so lucky. Thank you Charlotte and your beautiful brain, you're a phenomenal talent and can/will do anything & everything you want to in life. I love you so much.”
She added, “Thank you to literally the best crew ever, everyone worked their ASSES off and we couldn't have done shit without you. Huge massive insane special thanks to Tyler Shields who went above and beyond for us and this video- I love you I love you.”

  • The debut album is expected to be released in 2024.
Last year, Charlotte Lawrence told Hunger Magazine about the album, “You can expect sadness, some dancing, anger and sweetness, and then more sadness, lol. The album has fun, upbeat songs and slow songs, but even the fast ones tend to lean darker or lonelier lyrically. I feel so happy and grateful in my life, but I struggled a bit personally when I was writing a lot of this music. I think it helped, though. I do feel that my best frickin songs (in my opinion) came from my shittiest life experiences. That doesn't mean I'll try to stay in the negativity or search for hardship just to fuel my writing; it just means I'll revisit the moments that have passed and welcome the ones yet to come, knowing that everything heals. This project is very different from what I have put out in the past. I made a lot of it with Ben Gibbard and Andy Park, two of my favourite people in the world. It's a lot of live instruments, truth and rawness. We chose to express ourselves in the way we wanted to without trying to be, or write for, anyone else. I'm really, really proud of it. I'd listen to the album if it weren't mine.”
