Take That Releases New Album “This Life”
British pop group Take That, consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, released their ninth studio album “This Life” on November 24, 2023.
It is their first body of work in six years since the 2017 album “Wonderland”.
Also, the album is first release under their new label EMI.
Take That said of the album, “It's been a wonderful experience being back in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new.”
They continued, “We're incredibly proud of the new album - there's a sense of togetherness, whether that's us coming back together as a band or people wanting connection in their own lives. We're excited for this new chapter!”
The album comprises 12-track, produced by Dave Cobb, Gary Barlow, Jennifer Decilveo, and Ryan Carline.
They made the album largely between Savannah, Nashville, and New York.
Gary Barlow said, “We made most of the album in Savannah in Georgia, so it had that [American] South sort of influence to it, and it's strange how an environment actually comes out in the music as well.”- Mark Owen told Apple Music 1's Rebecca Judd, “It's really good to keep moving around because I think if you turn up at the same desk every day to do a big job, like doing an album, I think it's going to sound tired. You get to New York, you're in this amazing studio, it's like, 'Right, let's go again.'”
Gary Barlow continued, “We wanted music that felt organic and we wanted music that felt of our time in life as well. Authentic, well-written music.”
He added, “It is an album about our lives and where we're at right now. We're obviously writing at a point of our lives where we've experienced a lot and the content is quite dense and interesting. I think it's a good age to be a songwriter, because a lot of things have happened, good and bad, which is all good for songwriting.” -
Take That said of the title track, “'This Life' is one of our favourites, the song that inspired the album title, It's about the twists, the turns and the adventure of living. It was a complex song to record, layering all our vocal harmonies together but we love how happy and uplifting it sounds.” - source : Apple Music
