  • Ferdous Releases New Song “Heartleak”

  • Amsterdam-based Afghan-Dutch producer Ferdous released a new song “Heartleak” on November 10, 2023.

The song is taken from his upcoming mixtape “Dreamland”, which is expected to be released in February 2024 via Faintly Red.
Morphing the track into something which is completely his own, he states his intention was to create a sense of compassion for himself during a time of hardship and distress.
“I changed the tempo, synth sound and drum programming completely and it morphed into a weird emo IDM song,” Ferdous said of the song. “I couldn't sit still for a minute and would sometimes feel manic energy with an extreme attitude to live my life. I hope other people sense this warmth as well.”
The accompanying music visualizer was directed by Niko Zelenik.
Niko Zelenik explained, "after hearing the track and its kind of jittery, unstable percussion, the idea of a leaky, heart-shaped pipe system kind of cemented itself."
  • The new mixtape is a project helmed by a search for escapism from a period of personal struggle and filters the journey of healing through its evocative pulsating technicolour core.
Ferdous said of the mixtape, “Dreamland is my way of finding beauty, colour and transcendence in the process of dealing with the most finite of endings. Your mind and body goes through a lot, but I made a conscious decision to not focus on the overarching feeling of sadness and apathy, that's perhaps something I don't want to get into just yet..."
The rest of the forthcoming mixtape is inspired by his time spent DJing in clubs across Amsterdam.
He added, “It's something I haven't done before. I feel like the club influence has always been there in a subtle way, but now I want to be more upfront about it.”
