  • WILLOW Returns With New Song “alone”

  • American singer-songwriter Willow Smith, aka WILLOW returned with a new song “alone” on November 3, 2023.

The song is her first release since the 2022 fifth studio album “COPINGMECHANISM” and will appear on her upcoming sixth studio album.
Also, the track is the first single her under new label Three Six Zero Recordings.
This time, WILLOW worked with Los Angeles-based Australian singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin on the track.
Both artists co-wrote and co-produced the song.
WILLOW shared on social media, “Solitude can become one of our biggest teachers and tools if we truly want to know ourselves completely. I think solitude can be scary for humans sometimes. There is so much space to remember and reflect on things that may be really painful for us. But in my experience, when we open ourselves to this specific flavor of groundlessness, we begin to see the inner workings of our minds and hearts in so many beautiful ways that allow us to interact with life with more honesty and presence.”
  • WILLOW told Rolling Stone about the sound of the new song, “I had always seen music in my own abstract way, but making Coping Mechanism blew my mind open to the science of harmony and rhythm. I feel like “alone” straddles two worlds. It has that intense relief moment at the end, but there are some really interesting time-signature variations that happen in the song that you don’t really see anywhere in Lately I Feel Everything or Coping Mechanism. There’s some quintuplet beats that are just really different from rhythmic expressions that I’ve used before. It’s this amazing bridge of a song because it has a heart of vulnerability, and we have the guitars that are driving feeling. But there’s this underlying complexity that is just such a great foreshadowing for what’s to come.”

  • WILLOW said of the new album, “During that time, emotionally, I was going through so much. There was so much anger. There was so much resentment. There was so much need to just express myself. And those two albums helped me get it out. For Coping Mechanism I was almost never sober in the studio. And for this new album, I was sober for every single recording session … I feel like my mind state was extremely different. There was so much more gratitude, so much more resonance with myself, and so much more coming back to my roots with these new songs that are coming out.”
