Jonas Brothers Releases New Album “The Album”
American pop rock band Jonas Brothers, consisting of Nick Jonas(vocals/rhythm guitar), Joe Jonas (vocals) and Kevin Jonas (lead guitar), released their sixth studio album “The Album” on May 12, 2023 via Republic Records.
It is their first album in four years since the 2019 album “Happiness Begins”.
The album comprises 12-track, produced by TenRoc, Pete Nappi, and Jon Bellion, who also performed the 12th track “Walls”.
The album explores themes of fatherhood, mature love, and nostalgia, the band informs those big life questions with the adult-contemporary sounds.
Joe Jonas told DORK about the album, “By expanding our creative vocabulary, we were able to open things up beyond the need for drama. We're speaking about something that bears more weight than having a good time or life being awesome. There are some complex, dynamic themes in there.”
Nick Jonas added, “The world is such a dark and intense place. We like to bring positivity in where we can. It wasn't an intentional feel-good record, but the fact it ended up there makes a lot of sense.”
- Nick Jonas said of the album in a statement, “I hope people feel like they're part of our journey for a moment in time. One of the things I always say about Jonas fans, which I think is the greatest honor ever, is that I think they've really allowed us to be a part of their journey. We've stayed true to ourselves, most importantly, and who we are as artists, what we want to say, and what is authentic to us. I hope people feel a part of our journey and know we're honored to be a part of theirs.”
Joe Jonas added, “Just go for it. Sit down with it and listen to it from start to finish. Please don't skip any songs.”
Jonas Brothers explained about some tracks for the album.
“Montana Sky” via Variety
“'Montana Sky.' There's a lot more acoustic guitar and real organic instruments that tap into a bunch of different influences, but we're aware of the fact that we're not a country act. Jon [Bellion] flipped it on its head — he's got a modern edge to everything he does, even if it has really classic elements.”
“Wings” via Variety
“'Wings.' It might be the shortest song on the album, but I like it because it feels like a trailer to the rest of the body of work.”
“Americana” via DORK
“It's about celebrating what makes us who we are as well as certain figures who have helped shaped culture. It's almost anti-politics because it's about people who represent good in the world. Blue jeans and marijuana is the America that I love.”
“'Waffle House' was born from a simple but powerful idea. When you sit down with the people that matter most, anything is possible. This song isn't about a restaurant, it's about coming together with the people you love and making your dreams come true.”
“Vacation Eyes” via Variety
Kevin Jonas: “'Vacation Eyes' is based on how my relationship started with my wife [Danielle Jonas]. We met on vacation — and continuing that love story every single day is how I want to live my life. It makes me want to be on the beach! It's just such a fun song about enjoying life.”
“Little Bird” via Variety
“It was a last-minute addition. At first, it was a bit of a head scratcher, but the more I listened to it, the more I loved it. I think it really encapsulates a moment in time for us. Musically it taps into some of my favorites: Doobie Brothers and Bee Gees, and others from that era. It's a really, really, fun song. We can't wait to play it live.”
