  • Theo Tams Covers Phil Collins' “In The Air Tonight”

  • Back in February, Canadian singer-songwriter Theo Tams released the 3-track cover EP “Uncovered: Volume 1”, including Dixie Chicks' “Cowboy Take Me Away”, The Beatles' “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, and Randy Newman's “Feels like Home”.

Follows the EP, he released a cover of British singer-songwriter Phil Collins' “In The Air Tonight” on April 20, 2023.
The original version of the song was released by Phil Collins from his debut solo album “Face Valu” in January 1981.
It was written by Phil Collins. The cover version was produced by Marty Martino.
Theo Tams said of the song, “I’ve always been a massive fan of Phil Collins and 'In the Air Tonight' has always been a favourite. What I love about it most, outside of how haunting the melodies are, is that there are so many different ways it can be interpreted.”
He continued, “My producer, Marty Martino, and I created a vocal pad out of the “I can feel it coming,” line, combining this with lush harmonies to create a feeling of tension and suspense.”
  • Theo Tams added, “For me, the personal attachment to this lyric runs deep. I recently ended a friendship with a really narcissistic individual and I had a really hard couple months where I was feeling really off and down about it all. I started listening to this track so differently, and I wanted my version to centre around the feeling of when you know something is off, but you find yourself making excuses for someone else’s red flags.”
