Bangkok-based singer-songwriter Supajiras Chanchatnarong, aka SEKI has released his second single called “Play It Cool” along with a music video, following the debut song “Need a Moment”.
The song draws the themes of social anxiety and insecurity when it comes to making the first move with 80s synth sounds.
It was written and produced by Supajiras Chanchatnarong.
“I think we've all been guilty at times of pretending to be cooler than we actually are,” SEKI explained. “The inspiration for my new song, 'Play It Cool,' came from an awkward encounter with an attractive girl sitting on a park bench in Bangkok.”
He continued, “I decided to try to talk to her. However, it turned out that she couldn't speak Thai at all - I'd assumed she was Thai like me - and at the time my English was terrible. After stumbling through some really painful exchanges in English, I awkwardly said sorry to her and started walking away, completely embarrassed. My whole face turned red!”- He said, “Writing this song brought me that feeling of secondhand embarrassment. It's a track that shows the progression of my lyric writing, along with more confident singing than on my past releases. I've tried to showcase my range a little more in 'Play It Cool' - there's a nice big chorus to end the song!”
He added, “Ultimately, "Play It Cool" has taught me to let go of trying to do everything perfectly. It's those little imperfections which actually make the music feel more relatable.” - source : Apple Music
