British singer-songwriter Katy B released a new EP “Peace and Offerings” along with a new music video for “Lay Low” on November 5, 2021.
It is her first project in 5 years since the 2016 third studio album “Honey”.
The EP comprises 8-track, featuring guest appearance from Jaz Karis. Produced by Geeneus, Mike Brainchild, P2J and Ross Monro.
The EP features R&B and Jazz-influenced sounds. “I think I consciously leaned into my R&B side more on this project,” Katy B explained. “With the clubs being closed, it reflects what I'd be listening to and vibing to at home”.
She continued, “My high 10 songs are traditional R&B songs, I'm a nostalgia head and I wished to convey that throwback really feel to the music.”
She said of the EP title, “The 'Peace' is me taking myself away and having peace of mind and the 'Offerings' are the songs, the parts of myself I'm giving away. In a way I'm reintroducing myself again: I am the offering.”
The accompanying music video was directed by Ash K Halliburton, who filmed it in South London Oi.- She shared on social media, “The peace represents me going a way for a while to get my peace of mind back, I feel like I was running on autopilot at that time of my life so I decided to take a break. When I took my foot off the gas I realised how much I needed it and what was meant to be a few months turned into a few years. I never stopped writing though and I can't wait for you to hear some of the other songs I've been working on.”
