Helga Arvesten Premieres New Song “Next To You”
- Stockholm-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Helga Arvesten has released a new song “Next To You” via streaming music services.
The song was premiered exclusively on Substream Magazine. It was written by Helga Arvesten and co-produced by Erik Berglund.
Last December, she released three singles "Naked", "Don't Speak" and "Lightning Strike" after the debut EP "Entering the Ozone". The new song is the follow-up to them.
Also, the song will appear on her upcoming sophomore EP "I’m Here", which is expected to be released later 2018.
The track itself tells of insecure and the fear of being left behind. “This song embodies so many parts of who I am," Helga Arvesten said of the song. "When I wrote it I was troubled, when I was done with it things seemed clearer, that is what music is for me. I really struggled with my confidence when I was in my teens and as a young adult. This lack of self worth often led to destructive behaviour and the music I wrote often reflected that. This song is special for me since it shows my growth. In it I am not questioning myself but questioning my surroundings."
- “Next To You” is inspired from British rock icon David Bowie. "The track is one of my favourites since it also takes inspiration from my idol, David Bowie," the 25-year-old singer explaiend. "The piano arrangement, which was played by Mikael Nilzén, is built on the same concept and sound that was created by Mike Garson in the Aladdin Sane album. ‘Next To You’ is about being caught between anger and hope, trying to decide if the good is so good that it is worth the fight against the bad, ‘I’m nobodies fool, still want to wake up next to you.’”
