Australian singer-songwriter Sia released her ninth studio album “Music - Songs From and Inspired By the Motion Picture” on February 12, 2021.
The album is the musical film “Music” soundtrack, featuring guest appearances from David Guetta, Labrinth, Burna Boy and Kate Hudson.
She wrote 10 songs for the soundtrack and the album includes songs inspired by the film, such as “Saved My Life”, co-written by Dua Lipa.
Produced by Jack Antonoff, Jesse Shatkin, Greg Kurstin, David Guetta, Mike Hawkins, Toby Green, Labrinth, Oliver Kraus and Sia.
The film was directed by Sia, who co-wrote and a screenplay with children's book author Dallas Clayton. Starring Kate Hudson, Maddie Ziegler and Leslie Odom Jr. It was first the working title “Sister” and subsequently renamed “Music”.
This marks Sia's directorial debut. Sia said, “For me, the process was basically, I work out the movie. I'll act it out, I'll have the dialogue already in my head... I can't be bothered to learn Final Draft. Like, when I sing, I just want to sing the melody and write the lyrics. I don't want to have to do production, which is very technical. I don't enjoy that.”
The film was released on-demand on February 12th by Vertical Entertainment.
Also, the film was nominated for the 78th Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.- source : Rolling Stone
