Lokoy Releases Debut Album “badminton”: Streaming
- Norwegian pop punk band Sløtface's bassist Lasse Lokoy, aka Lokoy released his debut solo album “badminton” on January 22, 2021.
The album comprises of 15-track, featuring guest appearances from Nils Bech, Safario, Sofus, Emilie Østebø, Moyka, Hart and VARPU.
Lokoy shared on social media, “I take pride in collaboration. The ideal artist isn't a “lonesome genius”, it is rather groups of people working together towards a shared goal. There's so many people involved on this album and I want to thank all of you for your contribution💙 ”
The album title track is dissecting his relationship with his father. He said, "What I wish the most is that all of our hugs are like the ones we share in ball courts."
Also, for the album, he found inspiration in unexpected places. Especially, “[weak soup]” and “[freaking disaster]” brief interludes which take the form of short snippets of conversation with an Uber driver. He said, “I was in a car with him in LA and he was so excited to talk, but because we were chatting so much he would take wrong turns and we ended up having this long conversation,” Lokoy remembers. “So, I decided 'fuck, I need to record this; this guy is so fun' – he was just having these monologues about how electronic life is making people believe they are living their lives or telling a story which is unique and something real. When we're actually lying to ourselves.”
