JJ Wilde Releases New Song “Mercy”
- Canadian alt-rock singer-songwriter JJ Wilde unveiled a new song “Mercy” on November 20th.
Back in June, she released her long-awaited debut album “Ruthless” including smash hit “The Rush”.
Following the album, “Best Boy” was released in August. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Canada Rock chart.
The new track “Mercy” is the second single following the album. She has already filmed the music video, which will be premiered soon.
“”Mercy” is a story of revenge,” JJ Wilde said. “It is about a man who tries to steal something from a woman. Her sense of self, safety, control. He tries, but he does not succeed. We have all wanted revenge at one moment in our lives, whether it's just a thought, or we actually go through with it. In this case, it is taken to the extreme, and she is pushed to the absolute limits. This story/song, like many of my songs, comes from personal experience. A story that has taken me over two years to share. This is the story of Mercy.”
- She shared on social media, “Have you ever had something taken from you? Stolen? Something you didn’t think you could get back? Something that changes you.…changes your sense of self, security, how you see the world. Have you ever thought about what you would do to that person if you had the chance? If there were no consequences when all was said and done, except your conscience. I’ve thought a lot about this…
This song took me two years to write and get out of my head. Like many of my songs, it stems from personal experience, although for a long time I wished it didn’t. It’s a fantasy I created to deal with what happened.”
