Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Danielle Ponder Teams Up With Karate Boogaloo for New Song “Look Around”
New York-based singer-songwriter Danielle Ponder teamed up with Melbourne soul outfit Karate Boogaloo to release a new song “Look Around” on July 23, 2020.
Proceeds from the track in July and August will go to the Equal Justice Initiative in the US and the Warriors of Aboriginal Resistance in Australia.
Danielle Ponder shared on social media, “Fires were raging through Australia and smoke covered the sky. It felt like all of our human sins had gotten the best of us and we were paying a price. I didn't know that when I arrived back home in the U.S, the world would only get darker. I feel like my past self wrote this song for my future self, knowing what was to come.”
The song follows up “Be Gentle” released back in June. She told Rawckus Magazine about song in an interview, “When I first heard the music I was immediately captivated by it. It was something about its fluidness, the open spaces, and scarcity that really caught me. The instrumentation seemed ready to wrap around vocals – this song just felt made for a moment.”
