Harlem-based singer-songwriter TANSU released the fourth single called “Love Alone” from her upcoming debut EP “The City” on February 14, 2024.
Ther debut EP, recorded with friend and longtime collaborator Dave Rublin, is a chronicle of a life lived well, delivered by a sterling, astounding voice.
With “Love Alone” Tansu chronicles the deep isolation and pain associated with being in an unfilled relationship. The melancholic and powerfully emotional song showcases TANSU's soul-drenched vocals over a rich tapestry of cinematic synths.
The track was written by Tansu Akman-Duffy, and produced by Dave Rublin.
TANSU said of the song, “It is a beautifully angry song about being alone in a relationship. I wrote this song during a very different time in my life, but the story and emotions remain true. There is nothing lovable about being in a relationship without love.”- She continued, “I feel like a lot of young love feels like this. Empty and confused. The waiting to text back, the anxiety in Snapchat scores, the constant comparison to others. Love is not an algorithm. Love is seeing understanding in your partner's eyes and recognizing your value to them.”
She added, “This song also means a lot to me because it is the first song Dave and I wrote together. This is our baby. She almost didn't make it on the album! I hope this song reaches the ear that needs to hear this. I am so proud of myself.”
