FIIZ Releases Debut EP “NIGHTCAP”
New York City-based electropop duo FIIZ, consisting of Fiona (Fi) and Isabelle (Iz), released their debut EP “NIGHTCAP” on February 2, 2024.
The EP comprises a 7-track, all songs were written by Fiona Sweeney and Isabelle Miller, produced by Dutch producer Sietse Fase.
The creation of the EP took place over six months in Boston, where Fiona and Isabelle resided in Isabelle's mother's basement, crafting lyrics that reflect their life experiences as the duo.
The EP delves into themes of friendship, psychedelics, and consciousness.
This body of work is interwoven with a broader narrative on climate change, reflecting the duo's environmental concerns, love for nature, and what they will have to witness as future generations face impending disaster.
- The duo explained about some tracks for the EP.
“'Lungs' is about what it feels like to be with a woman for the first time and how overwhelming and powerful that can feel. It captures that desire with someone new to just continue to kiss them, and completely ignore the need to breathe. From a joint perspective, we were really interested in creating a song that celebrated consent. There are so many love songs and lust songs out there, but not a lot of them touch on the idea that there is a mutual communication about intimacy that comes with such ease and fun.”
“This song is arguably one of the most important steps on our music journey. It's a concept we've been trying to find clarity in our writing and also it was one of the first songs we produced our own demo for (shoutout busy chords). This song is for when it's 3 am and you need to dance out the nostalgia. Here is installation II of a parallel life that's calling to you and me.”
