  • bludnymph Releases Debut EP “DROOL”

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Kya Hansen, aka bludnymph released her debut EP “DROOL” on October 25, 2023.

The EP comprises 9-track, produced by Alexander Lewis, Andrew Goldstein, Cirkut, Imad Royal, inverness and Pink Slip.
bludnymph said of the EP, “Halloween is my joy. Halloween is my oxygen. Halloween is my reason for existing. Growing up my family always went aaall out, turning our home into the haunted house from our most beautiful nightmares. Thousands of people would come, all of our family and friends would get together to help us build and decorate and be actors. It's a season of monsters (my biggest crushes), witchy magic (I've been doing spells since I was just a baby nymph), dressing up (I do this every day but it's fun when everyone else does too), and candy (my main source of sustenance). Basically, Halloween is me and I'm trying to be the Mariah Carey of Halloween. Also from now on please call it Hallowbean because bean is my childhood nickname and I would make all of my friends call it that.”
  • bludnymph explained about some tracks for the EP.

    “BODY PARTS”
“'BODY PARTS' is about my desire for touch and closeness but my struggle with a fear of commitment and emotional vulnerability. The music video is special to me because I am literally Frankenstein-style building bludnymph. With this being the lead single of my first project, it really does feel like the beginning of a new era of my life, creating who I want to become.”

  • “Lights Out”
“When someone is annoying you, it helps to blast something angry. I encourage being nice, but it's important not to bottle your emotions up. 'Lights Out' is a way to let it out when you have that 'don't f*ck with me' feeling.
I channel my evil, darker side with my music. It serves as an outlet so I can work on setting boundaries in my personal life. I have always struggled with saying no to things, when I deserve to be allowed to. This song is kind of about 'going after' someone, but it's also teaching me to stand up for myself.
I've always been a very creative person, in a variety of forms, so it's really cool that I could take the many parts of myself and tie it all together with the music video. One of my favorite things we've started to incorporate into my content is my Ghouls; they're my special little ghost creatures. Look out for their appearances.”

    “Watch Me”
“With every song I make, I can feel myself learning and growing as an artist. I have always been so very much myself and I can feel my inner world opening up to the outside world more and more, getting more comfortable sharing secrets and feelings from the deepest depths of my soul. On the day I created my new single, 'Watch Me, I went into the studio with the intention of making a song that let me embody the feeling of being an evil siren. FAANGS, Cirkut (two of my closest collaborators) and I built off that vibe and it became all about an evil, sexy siren stripper who uses her magical powers to steal everyone's money.
I started taking pole dancing lessons two months before we shot the 'Watch Me' music video so I had a little experience under my belt. It's SO HARD but SO MUCH FUN. I've wanted to try it forever so this was a great reason to do it. We rented out a pole and took it to a beautiful forest-y lookin' location. I knew it would be difficult but oh boy… I did not know HOW difficult. We couldn't get the ground fully even, so the pole was on an angle. Since it was so cold out, condensation was forming and it was aggressively slippery. It was a full moon when we filmed so anytime I would start feeling anxious about things not going smoothly, I would just look up at it and remember that I am magic. I think it helped because I love the way the shots turned out.
There have been many times in my life that I've very seriously considered stripping as a career path so maybe one day I'll get to try it out for real. Big respect to all my sexy siren strippers out there. Let 'Watch Me' inspire a confidence within that makes you feel like you can have anything with just one look.”
