Bess Atwell Premieres New Song “Sylvester” on BBC Radio 6 Music
British singer-songwriter Bess Atwell is back. She premiered a new song “Sylvester” on BBC Radio 6 Music with Steve Lamacq.
The song is the first music in two years since the 2021 album “Already, Always”.
The track was written by Bess Atwell. This time, she worked with Aaron Dessner of American rock band The National, who is better known as producer for Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Gracie Abrams.
The accompanying music video was directed by Dylan Friese-Greene.
Bess Atwell said of the song, “I've hinted about it several times, but I'm so honoured to be able to say that Aaron Dessner did indeed produce this new music. It's still hard for me to believe that I got to work with one of my heroes, but somehow I got that lucky. It's hard to accurately describe what a dream come true this was, but if you've been paying any attention, you'll know. I've been a huge fan of The National and Aaron's production for years. I cover their songs at my own gigs, and I have a framed ticket to one of their shows above my desk.”
- She continued, “Sylvester was the first song we started working on when I arrived at his gorgeous Long Pond in upstate New York, where it was snowing the whole week. He was just as excited about it as me and almost all of his first instincts (like that gorgeous ambient guitar that cascades across the song) were right.”
She added, “SThere is so much more to tell you, and show you, from our time at Long Pond but most of that will have to wait a bit. What I can say, is that Aaron is everything you would hope for in a producer and friend. His generosity and commitment to the 'little guys', when he's working with some of the biggest stars in the world, is extraordinary. I am the absolute luckiest and in love with what we've made.”
