  • CMAT Premieres New Song “Stay For Something” on BBC Radio 1

  • Irish pop singer-songwriter Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, aka CMAT premiered a new song “Stay For Something” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

The song is the fourth single off of her upcoming sophomore album “Crazymad, For Me”, which is due out on October 13, 2023.
It was written by Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, and Edward James Carlile. Produced by Matias Téllez.
The accompanying music video was directed by James Slater.
CMAT told Clara Amfo about the song, “This song, out of all of the songs in the record was the easiest and quickest for me to kind of write and produce. Which means that it's going to be everyone's favorite, because I didn't think about it that much, which is terrible for the ego, because I'm really thinkly what are my songs, I'm like, Let's get six layers in it and make it smart and make it referential and all that. But actually, I think people just want a song that is full of energy, and is about one specific feeling and not that smart. And I think that's what this is, I think it's just like raw energy and emotion. There wasn't thinking about it that much. I kinda poopped the song out, I think, was like the most technical way I can describe it just like, it just arrived.”
  • She shared on social media, “A song about trying to make sense of things that don't make sense. Good for running away from your problems.”
The new album comprises 12-track, featuring a guest appearance from John Grant.
CMAT said of the album, “I cannot believe that i was lucky enough to finally get to make this record, that i have been writing and planning over the past 6 years. It means everything to me and i am a very proud mother. and a mother knows best so believe me when I say- it is the greatest album of all time.”
