Holly Humberstone Premieres New Song “Antichrist” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone premiered a new song “Antichrist” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo on June 28, 2023.
Also, she released another song called “Room Service” on the same day.
Both songs will appear on her upcoming album “Paint My Bedroom Black”, which is set to be released on October 13, 2023.
“Antichrist” was written by Holly Ffion Humberstone, Ines Dunn, and Rob Milton. The accompanying music video was directed by Jean-Charles Charavin.
“Room Service” was written by Holly Ffion Humberstone and Rob Milton. Both songs were produced by Rob Milton.
“I love these songs so much & I’m so happy they’re yours now! These songs mark the start of a new era & I hope you love them as much as I do,” Holly Humberstone said of two songs. “I wrote Antichrist about a break up I went through a couple of years ago. I really cared about this person and wanted so badly to make it work but I knew something wasn’t right, that my heart wasn’t fully in it. I basically felt like the Antichrist. The guilt and self-loathing that came with that led me to write this song.”
She continued, “I also wrote Room service a little while ago. I’d just started touring full time and I was finding myself constantly stressed out and although I was having fun, I was really missing home and my friends. The song to me is just a simple love song to the people I care about the most.”- jx3hwEfBH60

Holly Humberstone told Clara Amfo about “Antichrist”, “It's a bit it's a bit of a self-deprecating what one I guess. I wrote the song 'Antichrist'. It's pretty self-explanatory, really, but I felt quite a lot of the year. I was obviously on tour having loads of fun, but I was kind of in my hotel room in some random part of the world every night kind of watching my life at home kind of passed me by through my phone. And I think, there was quite a lot of sort of guilt wrapped up in that with me feeling like I was neglecting a lot of people and I guess that's kind of where 'Antichrist' came from. Yeah, it was about so called broke up and just feeling like I couldn't be there for people feeling like the worst person in the world basically.”-
She said of the album title, “So it's the title of a track on the album. It's the opening track, if I can give that much away. And I wrote that song. I had two days in New York when I wrote 'Antichrist' and I'm one of the days around 'Antichrist' and on the other day, we wrote 'Paint My Bedroom Black'. And I feel like the album for me was kind of split into two halves. And I think one side of it was very sort of introverted and wanting to there's a lyric in 'Paint My Bedroom Black' that's like board my window shirt and tell my posters up and 'Paint My Bedroom Black'. That kind of wanted to shut all the chaos and everything that was going on around me out. And then the other side like 'Antichrist' maybe like extroverted and exploring all of my crazy feelings and stuff like that. So I don't know why like that song just felt like it. Some the whole thing up for me really.” - source : BBC Radio 1
