  • Jérémie & The Delicious Hounds Releases Debut Album “Cruel”

  • Canadian soul-funk & blues-rock band Jérémie & The Delicious Hounds, consisting of Jérémie Brémault (vocals/guitar), Ryan Toupin (guitar), Nelson Sprout (bass) and Diego Guzman (drums), released their debut album “Cruel” along with a new music video for “We Haven't Met Yet” on May 5, 2022.

The album comprises 9-track in English and French, produced by Murray Pulver.
Also, the album was recorded live off the floor to capture their vintage soul aesthetic and live performance energy.
The accompanying video was directed by Austin MacKay.
The band said of the album, “This album, Cruel, is our unique take on the old sounds of the Motown era, blended with a dancing pop vibe. This is our first full-length bilingual album, recorded live off the floor. It's all about love. While some songs reflect the pain of heartbreak, others capture the elation of newfound love. In the end, all these songs were crafted with the aim of keeping the listener on their feet and captivated by the music.”
They added, “'Cruel' is a word that works in both languages (English and French), an essential choice for us as bilingual artists.”

    “Cruel”
“This song is about desiring a woman even though she's 'Cruel' to you, and the heartache that ensues. There's a mix of pleasure and pain. You have fun together, but know it will hurt afterwards. The drums and bass have an up-tempo disco funk feel, balanced by a melancholic and almost eerie vibe from the horn melody. So it's sexy and dancey, with somber undertones.”

    “We Haven't Met Yet”
“'We Haven't Met Yet' is a song about the idea of falling in love with someone new, whether you meet them on the bus, at a bar, or in this particular case, at the library.”
“We decided to bring this song to life through a visual representation as it holds a special place in our hearts. This was the result of the first-ever collaboration between Ryan, our lead guitarist, and Jérémie. While Jérémie shared a few lines and a chorus melody, Ryan crafted the verses and chord progression that truly breathed life into the song. The lyrics capture the universal feeling of being drawn to someone and the longing to form a connection that everyone can relate to.” via Modern Mystery
