Arlo Parks Releases New Song “Pegasus” featuring Phoebe Bridgers
London-based singer-songwriter Arlo Parks will release her upcoming sophomore album “My Soft Machine” on May 26, 2023 via Transgressive Records.
From the album, she released the fourth single called “Pegasus” along with a music video on May 10, 2023.
This time, she teamed up with American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers on the track.
The track was written by Paul Epworth and Anais Marinho. Produced by Paul Epworth, Romil Hemnami, and Baird.
Arlo Parks said of the song, “'Pegasus' is about experiencing the warmth and lightness of good love for the first time. It also explores how the absence of chaos and the presence of real connection can be a little bit terrifying after a long time of not having it.”
The accompanying video was directed by Bedroom at Compulsory Film.
She added about the video, “The desert landscape has always had a special place in my heart, the scorched land, the dust, the sense of absence. Films like Gerry, My Own Private Idaho, and Paris, Texas all use the desert as its own character representing isolation, nostalgia and the journey to a place outside of yourself. Bedroom did an incredible job of meshing surreal dreamscapes with real intimacy to make one of my favorite music videos I've ever made.”
- Arlo Parks shared on social media, “This song is about the purity and rarity of true love, that feeling of solidity, of finding a real home in another human being, of wanting to be better with/for someone but being held as you are. The video captures that frenetic joy and energy - the barren backdrop of the desert, finding relief and colour after a long time of being alone - i can't wait for you lot to peep this oneeee”
She continued, “Phoebe Bridgers you are one of the most intelligent and generous creative forces we have, I have cried to Funeral on many floors, I have screamed sung along to Motion Sickness in the car on countless road trips, I have been in love with what you make since I was 17 years old. I'm so excited to share what we have built. Thank you to my Australian legends Triple J for the first spin, can't wait to make my way down to you again. Enjoy, weep, slow dance, piece yourselves back together, Pegasus is finally yours.”
